1. Why should I login?
There are many advantages to registering for an account and logging in. Depending on your login - e-services, QPL (Queensland public library) or Guest - you can:
- have your own Store to save and store records, save searches, set alerts to be delivered by email or RSS, and add your own notes.
- contribute your comments, reviews or tags, write a book review or share what you know about a picture or manuscript.
- access e-resources from offsite - your home, office or other computer connected to the internet. This service is available to e-services and QPL account holders.
2. Do I have to register (signup) to login?
Yes. You must register for either an e-services, a QPL or a Guest login.
3. What's the difference between e-services, QPL and Guest logins?
4. How do I register for an e-services card?
You can register for an e-services card:
- onsite - just show the required ID to the staff on the Level 3 Information Desk, South Bank building, and they will process your card and give it to you immediately.
- online - complete the automatic registration form. Your e-services card will be posted to you within 5 working days of receipt of your registration.
5. How do I register for a QPL account?
To register for a QPL account you must be a member of a Queensland public library. Follow the prompt to choose your library from the drop down menu and enter your public library membership barcode or pin number.
Not a public library member? Contact your local public library and become a member.
Note: If you have an e-services card, you do not have to register for a QPL account.
6. How do I register for a Guest account?
You can register here for a Guest account. Anyone can apply for a One Search Guest account.
Note: Guests cannot access e-resources offsite. Upgrade to an e-services or QPL account for more services.
7. I've lost my e-services card. How can I login?
If you are onsite at the State Library, present your photo ID at the Level 3 Information Desk. Staff will issue you with a replacement card or your barcode number. If you are offsite, please phone: +61 7 3840 7850 or complete our online form and we will post a replacement card to you.
8. What do I do if I forget my e-services card number?
If you are onsite at the State Library, ask the staff on the Level 3 Information Desk and they will check your card details. If you are offsite, please phone: +61 7 3840 7850 or complete our online form and we will assist via phone or email.
9. What do I do if I forget my QPL username or password?
Follow the link to "Forgot your QPL username or password". Provide your email address and we will ask you the answer to the secret question that you used when you registered. Your username and password will then be emailed to you.
10. What do I do if I forget my answer to my secret question?
If you forget the answer to the secret question that you provided when you registered then you will have to register for a new QPL account.

Some e-resources have a limited number of licences. If all licences are all in use, you may not get access. Please try again at a later time or ask us for assistance.

13. I'm not a Queensland resident. Why can't I access online services?
The State Library, with Queensland public libraries, is licensed to provide access to e-resources only to Queensland residents. Non-Queensland residents may access our e-resources onsite at Queensland public libraries or onsite at the State Library at South Bank. Terms and conditions apply when accessing online resources
